In the city of Turku is a old prison named Kakola. It has ended its purpose as a jail in 2007. A while ago I had a unique chance to visit the area while taking part in a tour organized by my friends. In truth the Kakola area does not contain only one prison but four different prison buildings build in different eras and styles. The place still echoed memories of the late jailbirds.

In many prison cells there were posters, messages and pictures taped to the walls.

Here it says: "Long hot summer. Next summer too. "

The kitchen.

The dining room.

"Enjoy"

Translation: "Milk - The last day to sell is not the last day to consume."

"Diets"

The church.

All the paintings in the church (windows and walls) were made by the prisoners.

The club room.

Taide tupa = Art Room

"Sexiest in Finland"

"This place instantly felt like home."

Jailbird is a pretty word. The pictures are so powerful! I went through my venetian photos and decided that I have to continue working on them, they weren't nearly saturated enough. Maybe I'll try a trick or two inspired by you.
Have a nice week dear!
Thank you dear Anna! Don't go over your photographs too many times: they were beautiful already as I saw them. But then again trying new tricks is always fun :D You too have the bestest week <3 hugs
