Concept Design Course Caused PAIN

The studying has started full steam. Actually it started two weeks ago with heavy lectures of Focault philosophies. This week it's been about Concept Design though. Our lovely professor Marjo Mäenpää kept a blog about the course here.

The main task of the course was to learn what a consept is and how to use it in any field of work: like in fine arts. The class was divided to groups to make their own concepts and a concept plan during the week. On friday we kept our presentations.

We decided to team up with my talented classmate Sara Kärpänen since we already knew how well our collaboration works. Marjo gave us a list of issues the city of Pori would like to have innovative solutions. There was one dealing about teenagers and matters that are topical to them.

We came up with PAIN - short for the Finnish words Peli(=Game)/Animaatio(=Animation)/Interaktiivinen(=Interactive)/Nuori(=Youngster) - interactive animationgame for youngsters. In a safe and fun enviroment young people could test where choices they make might take them.
The topics would be drinking, smoking, drugs, sexuality, career choices and eating. The challenge is to keep the game appealing to young for real. Not being lecturing but conversational. Adding hard facts and always having also numbers of people to contact in case of need. Here you can see rough demo of the game.

We'll see in the future if this thing goes further but for now I'm quite pleased how one week of hard work can lead us.
